Stop Lying to Yourself about Your Habits

Today I just wanted to talk about stopping lying to yourself about your habits.

You know I think, in the beginning, we all know that we’re lying. We sort of, we tell these little white lies to yourself about what you’re doing to yourself and you sort of make excuses and I think it’s, it becomes easier and easier all the time, to do this. And eventually you start to believe your own lies. You get into a habit of doing it to yourself and you start to believe the bullshit.

You know, when you decided to tell yourself white lies, or you bend the truth a little bit, or you change the perception around a little bit and look at it from a different perspective, just so that you can sort of make an excuse, any excuse that you make to yourself for doing your bad habits is that, it’s a lie, you’re lying to yourself, and baldly and brutally lying to yourself.

And it’s doing you no good. You know, never lie to yourself, you know, if you lie to anybody else, do it. You know, if you need to lie to people, do it, you know, if that’s what you are about. But don’t lie to yourself, you know. Because, you’re being your own, your greatest worst enemy – (greatest worst enemy – greatest) – your worst enemy you’re being to yourself.

You know at the end of the day; these lies are always going to come back and bite you on the arse. They’re not going to bite anyone else on the arse. They’re not going to harm anyone else.

You know, at the end of the day, you know, your habits are – what you fail to do for yourself – for your own habits. Either to build good habits or destroy bad habits, that you, that are harmful to you, these are only affecting you at the end of the day.

I mean, they might affect other people around you, but other people can walk away. Even your family you know. Other people can just tell you to go “Fuck Off!”, you know and they can leave and go somewhere else, if they don’t like what you’re doing. And many people will, many people have said that to me over my life time. Because of my habits, because of the things that I’ve done.

But you can’t do that to yourself. You’re stuck there in your own body and the more you convince yourself that something is true, when it’s not true, when it’s harmful to you. The more this gets embedded into your very core, you know, into who you are as a person and what you believe as a person and eventually you start to believe your own bullshit. That’s a dangerous place to be in, because it’s just, it gets a long harder to….

First you have to untangle the bullshit and figure out what’s a lie and what’s not a lie. And that’s what I’m here to tell you about alcohol, is that most of these things that you’re telling yourself, you know, all the excuses.

You know, I can come up with loads of videos and look back at the videos that I’ve done in the past and you’ll see so many videos that are there: this is what people say to themselves, that’s bullshit. This is what people say to themselves – that’s bullshit.

The only thing that you can do for yourself, to extricate yourself out of this thing is to take full responsibility. You are the only one who has the ability to respond in whatever way and you have to take the responsibility for everything, everything, you know.

No matter what happens in your life, it’s your responsibility because, you’re either in a position – you put yourself in that positions where this is happening to you – and you could have moved away or you’re doing it to yourself. And I’m not talking about blame, you shouldn’t be blaming yourself, that doesn’t do anyone any good.

But, you should look in the mirror and say “Well this is – I’m responsible for this – I am the only one that can do anything about this and I’m going to stop telling the lies to myself. I have to figure out what lies, I’ve been telling myself, what I believe, the things I believe that are not true anymore, but at the end of the day I’ve got to start pushing myself forward in the right direction, instead of the wrong direction, by taking responsibility for everything that I do including every drop of alcohol that I put into my body”

It’s no point in saying – “well I can’t stop doing this”. You can stop doing it, you just don’t do it anymore. You know this, no matter what way, shape or form you put onto this can’t do something it’s just an excuse. Won’t is more likely the problem. You won’t stop doing this to yourself, no matter what the consequences are.

So, you have to stop doing it, first and foremost and put up with whatever shit comes your way. If you need to get help from your Doctor, or if you need to get help from a psychiatrist or if you need to put yourself into, I don’t know, into a programme – do it! If that’s what it takes you know, but don’t say you can’t do it, because you can do it.

Everyone can do it. The whole point is stop lying to yourself. If you lie to yourself, if you can’t see the problem, then how can you deal with it, you have to first be able to see what’s wrong, to see the problem, to see the issues, you have to be able to break that down and to say – “Well, first of all I’ve got to stop doing this to myself, stop putting this shit into my body.”

That’s the first part of this, without that, everything else is just. it’s just talk. Stop putting the alcohol into your body, then you can deal with all the other issues and believe me 99% of the time, it’s the other issues that you’ve got to deal with, but you can’t deal with those other issues, while your drinking because the other issues are life style choices and things that you doing, that are leading you to drink, you know.

So long as you have those then nothing’s going to happen, you have to sort of cauterise – cut off those avenues – and cauterise the thing. Close the door behind you so you can’t go back into those things and move yourself forward into better ways of life, you know.

It’s possible and it’s, everything is, is, it’s possible for you to do this. It’s possible for you to achieve what you want in your life, you just have to push yourself in that direction you know.

Look that’s it for today. Stop lying to yourself. Keep the alcohol out of your mouth first and foremost and keep the bullshit out of your head.

You know, these are the two things that if you do, if you take responsibility, keep the bullshit from entering your head in the first place and any times it comes in there, you know, force the fucker out. And never put the alcohol into your mouth any more, then you’ve won 90% of the battle, the rest of it is, just plodding away every day to try and change things around, change things bit by bit and move forward day by day.
