Hi Kevin
I am on day four of sobriety and have been watching your videos enthusiastically every day! I love the scenic background, too! It has inspired me to find a nice scenic trail by the river to start walking. I bought your audio book so I can listen while I’m walking. Thank you so much!
Cathy Anne
Thanks Cathy, I hope the audio book helps you. I love my walking, sorts out my life and keeps me on the level…
Thanks Cathy
Hi Kevin
It’s day 11 for me now! Love the audio book and your videos. They have helped me immensely! It makes a huge difference when you understand how alcohol has been packaged and marketed to people.
Thanks
Cathy Anne
Hey Kev,
I don’t have a support system at all. Its SO hard to get past the 5th day or week end. I HAVE reduced the amount of beer drinking!
Need more of your advice!
Jim
Hey Jim, What’s stopping you from getting past day 5?
Hi Kevin, ‘….blue heroin, red heroin, highland heroin. Heroin from the Loire Valley.’ You are a poet & inspiration! I am indebted to your warmth, compassion & humour. The insights and humanity far outweigh all the Americaneese, Pseudo science and God Bollocks on the post ‘alky’ menu. Thanks H
It’s so true what you say about alcohol being a tool … I could think up any excuse to have a drink! I’m on day 23 of being alcohol free and I do indeed feel much better mentally. I’m becoming more productive with my writing, but the best thing of all is that I feel that I have been freed from the grip of a compulsive habit and it’s so liberating.
To those still in the early days of going without, or anyone who feels that they are struggling, I’d say it’s important to pay attention to the reasons why you need to ditch the alcohol. Read Kevin’s book, and keep it by you for constant support, and make up your mind that this time you are going to be successful. Keep going – you can do it!
Thanks for this video, Kevin. It sums up how I’m feeling right now – in a better mental frame of mind …. and I, too, enjoyed the scenery with the lovely glimpses of the sea in the background.
No worries Lesley. Glad you are getting something from the vids. Thanks for the kind words about the book as well.
Kev
Hi Jim
Thanks for the video. I’ve been trying to stop drinking for a long time and I can’t figure out why I want to sabotage my happiness in such a miserable way. I’ve had a lot of stressful things happen in the past few years but still. Drinking isn’t helping. When I quit for a week or two I feel wonderful and filled with possibility then I start drinking as if I don’t deserve to feel happy. Its really crazy.
Kev,
It’s 9 months on Sunday…
The boredom still remains between 6 and 10 pm, however, the other 21 hours are paradise.
Mark in London…
It took me a while to figure out what to do with myself. Pre-drug free me, my nights mostly involved using alcohol. When I stopped, I really didn’t have any experience of what to do. I’m pretty much settled into a nice evening routine now, no boredom.
The best influence on me EVER, and I’ve done ALL the reading, meeting ect. I’ve bought the first book love it and am currently reading 7 steps To Getting Started and love it even more. Today is day one did the pro/com write and comparisons. Have to say, one major appeal for me is the BA and it’s just getting some other guy rich!!! What a thought, imagine what I can’t do without the poison seeing what I’ve done using the drink! I’m looking forward to the rest of my life.
A million times grateful
Type o, can do w/o the drink oops
Drug dealers in suits! Thanks Joan
Hi Kevin I’ve listened to first couple of POD casts I’m on day 14 and I find the boredom very difficult to overcome, like the way you say that’s part of the journey, did you find your move to Spain made it easier,
Not easier, Dai, just sunnier! I drank like a fish for the first year here.
