I started out this whole journey just trying because I was ashamed about the person I had become as a dad, and I’m trying to be a better dad.

All I wanted to be was a better dad. And the only way to do that was to stop drinking alcohol. So if you want to be a better dad, or a better parent, stop drinking alcohol. This is not in the behavior, or the person, it’s the thing that you’re doing and once you can see that about yourself, then it becomes a lot easier to to do this without judging yourself.
