To me there seems to be two sides to this drinking shit , on one side theres the massive billion pound industry of the alcohol industry ,and on the other side there the rehab/recovery programmes whichs is possibly more billions than the alcohol barons . its total madness we dont need the alcohol and we dont need idiots telling us lies that we will die if we try to quit alcohol without giving them money its blackmail on a grand scale a bit like AA bollox

I’m currently residing in Southern California (Orange County) and the rehab programs out here are expensive. There are people that will pay 30K a month to put their child into rehab. That’s crazy.

I think if you are a heavy drinker, there is a slight possibility that you could die from withdrawal, mainly due to having seizures if you suddenly stop. When I drank, I drank 24/7, vodka straight from the bottle. I went on a binge of 6 weeks, where all I did was drink 24/7. It wasn’t easy drying to detox through that. I went to a hospital because the DTs, shakes, sweats were just horrible. I don’t to go through that pain again.

I agree that there is a slim chance of dying from withdrawal, especially for those that are just nighttime drinkers.

But as the guy above pointed out, Alcohol makes people a lot of money. There are those who sell it, the programs that treat alcoholism, recovery programs, and sober living. The sober living “industry” here is big business.

    Anyway, just my two cents.

I agree the rehab industry plays on peoples fears to extract money from them ,i was never a spirits or wine drinker , mainly beer and cider i think there may be a very slight possibility of dying if you have done a lot of spirits ,but i think the possibilty is very very slight PS i have found Scott Kilobies Natural rest book the thing that has most helped me it makes a lot of sense
    good luck

I came across your site about a week after giving up alcohol. I don’t know whether your original plan all along was to create a site to help others, especially as you had no guarantee initially you could stick to it. I guess by putting it together it helped to reinforce the need to see it through and it was also a cathartic release for you. Watching your 12 months later video, helped emphasise my own views on taking ownership of your problems and managing your own process without the need to go to the Doctor or a group such as AA. There’s so much information on the web about the impact of just stopping that it almost has a detrimental message that makes you apprehensive about even quitting. For anyone in the early stages like myself, I’d recommend going back and watching your very first video again. The transformation between then and the end of 12 months is amazing, you look so much healthier, more articulate and with bags of energy. Many thanks for sharing these.

      Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for your kind words and I am very grateful that I can help you and others with the journey. I didn’t have much of an idea for building the site in the beginning. I’ve done a lot of work with websites over the years and it just naturally progressed to what it is today. You’re right about the difference between the first video and the ones I’m doing now. I’d recommend that anyone who is going on this great journey to make a video of themselves on the very first day. You don’t have to show it to anyone. But it will help you tremendously when later if you are having any doubts. You will be able to see so many differences in yourself, you’ll amaze yourself. But you’ll also know how bad it became. That’s a bit scary but well worth it, you know you don’t ever want to go back.
      Thanks for your comment, Mark
      All the very best
      Kevin
