Quitting Drinking Alcohol Business | Be Careful of the Sharks | SDA28

by | Stop Drinking Alcohol, Year One | 5 comments

This week I talk about the problems associated with quitting alcohol and big business.

It’s a big problem

There’s so many shark companies out there who will be only too willing to take advantage of you when you’re trying to quit drinking, and your money at the same time – as much of that money as possible.

If you have a problem with drinking, so long as you know you have gone a couple of days without booze in the recent past, you should be good to go.

There are a few heavy drinkers who cannot quit this way. But they are normally the ones who drink for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a bottle as a nightcap. And, they do this day in and day out. They’re the ones who can’t stop. They’re the ones in danger. But they’re also in massive danger if they don’t stop!

If you’re worried at all, have a chat with your doctor.

Don’t listen to the bullshitters who will try and tell you that nobody should try to give up alcohol without medical intervention. I am living proof that you can quit on your own.

I drank up to 20 pints in one sitting. I drank most nights of the week – at least 4 to 8 pints, or a bottle or two of wine.

Beware of the Big Business Sharks Behind “Helping” You to Quit Drinking

Why Stop?

I hear it time and time again in the comments, on the forums, and with people I talk to… the big problem is not knowing when to stop. People start to notice things that they don’t like. They might be getting pains, they might be getting awkward conversations with those that love and care for them. They might be getting these types of conversations from their boss.

It’s almost always the same. Drinking is causing a problem.

Are you an alcoholic when drink is causing a problem?

It depends who you ask.

Does it matter what you label it?

Hell, no! You still have the problem no matter what you call it.

Try to quit. Just give it a go. What harm can it do.

I feel great, the best I’ve felt in a long time. I want to change more bad habits in my life. These are habits that I couldn’t change while I was drinking. I can do it all now.

So, that’s Stop Drinking Alcohol Week 28.
Thanks for visiting the site.
Until next time…

    Kevin,

I actually ran across a website that offered to help you stop drinking or for those not wanting to quit how they could learn to manage their drinking. They wanted nearly $10,000 US dollars for 5-days with 2 doctors in a one-on one setting. That didn’t include 5 nights of lodging, food, and air travel both ways.

I think most people don’t have that kind of money lying around. And I agree with you, most people can quit on their own. Thanks for this post. I know many people like myself search the internet for a quick fix but there just isn’t such a thing.

    7 months!! You rock!

    Thanks again…

      Hey Tammy,
There’s a quick fix for everything. It’s ironic that we spend so much of our lives and energies looking for the easy way out. At the end of the day, the easiest way out of all is just not to bother. How many people do that!
How are you doing on your quit?

Hi Kevin, I’m still having a bit of a struggle. I go days and days without drinking and thought maybe I could manage it but I’m finding the problem isn’t going days without drinking. I can do that. The problem is when I have the first drink I want a lot more. I’m still working on it. In your latest post where you answer a post from another viewer, it sounds like he has the same thing going on. Once you start you don’t want to stop. I always wondered why some people could have a drink or two and be done and others can’t stop when they start. They just want more and more. I guess the ones that cant stop after one or two are the ones that shouldn’t be drinking at all.

I keep reading your posts and watching the videos. I know what needs to happen with me and I feel I’m getting closer.

Thank you for your continued support.
