In Quitting Alcohol, There Will Be Good Days and Bad

by | Stop Drinking Alcohol | 2 comments

When you go to quit drinking alcohol, when you do any habit change, there is – the change element is going to bring you outside of your comfort zone right?

And in that discomfort zone that you’re in then- you’re going to have – you’re going to feel discomfort.

You’re going to feel a bit of psychological pain.

Throughout the journey there’s going to be good days and there’s going to be bad days

The good days are going to bring you pleasure.

This is when you feel on top of the world.

You feel happy.

You feel like nothing can go wrong, that everything’s going your way and that you made the right decision.

And then you’ve got the bad days, right?

Which are obviously, nobody likes the bad days.

These are the days when you feel shit!

You’ll feel like you’ve made the wrong decision.

You might feel depressed.

You might think that it’s time to turn back and go back to your old way of doing things.

But it’s in the bad days that you learn valuable lessons about yourself.

Those lessons might not be very apparent in the heat of the moment.

When you’re in those – when you’re in the darkness.

But stick it through, push through to the next day and you know, often a good sleep is as good as a tonic.

You can see things in a different way after a good sleep.

You know, it’s by pushing through those bad days that you get to earn more good days.

If you go back on yourself and you go back to where you were.

All you’re going to do is earn more bad days in the long run.

As I said – I keep saying this – this is a problem which…

Drinking alcohol is a problem which doesn’t get better the more you drink

The more you drink, the worse it’s going to get.

The more consequences you’re building up for yourself.

You know, the more physical damage you’re accumulating, the more mental damage you’re accumulating.

Just those thoughts about, “I can’t do this anymore. I’m not capable of quitting drinking alcohol.”

This is all – as they say – ‘stinking thinking.’

And the more you sort of give in to the bad days and try and make a good day out of a bad day by drinking alcohol or going back to your old habit – the more bad days you’re earning in the long run – and the worst damage you’re doing to yourself, you know?

This short-term gratification doesn’t work in those terms, because, there’s always a price to pay.

Look, take the good days for what they are.

You know, they’re a bonus along the road – especially earlier on.

I guarantee you that the good days will come, more and more to you, the more you get into this journey and the more you can push yourself through the bad days.

Remember that the bad days always earn you more good days in the long run.

“You have to fight some of the Bad Days to earn some of the Best Days of your life”

Thanks Kevin. I had one of those bad days yesterday, for no apparent reason. Your video has helped to explain why and that it’s nothing unusual.Thankfully, there were no serious cravings. Your daily talks help me a lot.
