How to Not Drink Alcohol After a Heavy Day or When You’re Stressed Out

by | Stop Drinking Alcohol | 4 comments

This video gives you some help on finding relaxation after a heavy day and maintaining it into the long term… all without alcohol.

1. Relaxation starts in the mind… if you think something is relaxing, it will be… what you focus on expands…Relaxation is also habitual… you have to get used to relaxing in a certain way…

2. You are going to have discomfort

3. What are the specifics? What’s your situation? What are you doing? Where are you? What could you be doing? What are you trying to relax from? What mood are you in?

Great subject! You do somehow have to change the reward system which isn’t always easy.
I decided to take a few personal interest classes which are usually out there for not much money, i.e.
Meditation, maybe a dance or language class; it fills up time & you meet new people.
    Thanks, Kevin.

Yes, it’s relearning a lot of things, gradually, every day, little by little. It’s where most people fail I think, they try to hold on to their old ways of doing things.

    Hi Kev,

You raised an interesting point that used to puzzle me too, of why we have a split mind/brain of one part wanting a drink and the other part resisting a drink! After a bit of ”research’ it became apparent that the part of the brain that so wanted a drink was our ‘repliltan brain’ (self destruct all out primitively hedonistic brain) kicking in and the sensible no don’t drink was our ‘modern day’ brain. Apparently we have 3 brains rolled into one-replitian, logic and modern day brain… Stay with the feeling of wanting a drink but soon enough the sensible brain will kick in!

Cheers Kev for your videos as its good to have an actual face/person on a self help quest that makes it more achievable to quit! 2 years quit on 19 August 2016 and loving my new life and never been happier! ?

It’s a good theory…the triune brain theory. I think we are very sucked into the culture of the booze. The oldest parts of our brains, that reptilian purely functioning part of the brain is responsible for most habits…it’s the emotional and logical parts of our brains that do most of the fighting in this war…even the logical side of our brain can work against us, coming up with the excuses and reasonable arguments to carry on doing what we want to do…
