A couple of days ago, I celebrated five years in my new life, a life without alcohol. More importantly to me, alcohol mastery is five years old today. To mark the occasion, I made this post on 14 of the most important things that I’ve learned during those 5 years without alcohol. I hope you enjoy.

Until next time…

Excellent vid Kev and Congratulations on 5 years. A real heartfelt cracker of a vid! I am on 2.5 years now and like you say – my life also has massively improved in all areas. Social life is different but the time I have now I can focus on the stuff I really want to do and be.

I would like to make a modest donation to recognise what you have done to help me and so the the work goes on and helps more people. I will do this again when poss.
What is the best way method doing this?

Happy New Year, Cheers! and thank you.

It has been fun to watch you evolve over the past few years. While I think your general message about alcohol is still the same, you have added a few new twists as they are discovered. All good.

What I took away from this video:

    – Breaking the cycle of drinking and recovering. I was latched into that cycle for 45 years and it was totally integrated into my lifestyle. Old habits are certainly hard to break, but I finally (somehow) became tired of the treadmill I was on and decided it was time to seriously try another path. Turned out it was the path to more happiness and better health.

    – Understanding how alcohol (and all drugs) handicap your mind. Life becomes so much easier and manageable with a clear head. And your productivity increases dramatically when you aren’t recovering from the drain of hangovers on a regular basis.

    – Improved relationships. I seriously think I could have lost my wife because of my allegiance to alcohol versus my allegiance to her. I was much more self-interested when drinking and now tend to better appreciate the perspectives of others.

Keep up the good work Kevin!

Bravo on 5 years Kevin! I am happy for you. Just celebrated 19 years and I agree with everything in this clip. You say it so much better than I can and so I am grateful to have you. My life has exploded with great things and great health since quitting too. It also allowed me to quit smoking 16+ years ago. Formerly. It was a race to see which would kill me first. Google “comorbidity”. Happy New Years from your friend in Montana, USA. Dennis

Absolutely great vid, as always, Kev. I fell off the wagon (again) but decided 1st January 2018 would be Day 1 of sobriety. I think the significance of the date has helped. It’s only been 5 days, but I’m already feeling better. Your no-BS advice has really helped. Thanks a million.

Hi Kevin, thanks for all you do, it got me through. I gave last year on 7th September and haven’t had a drink since. I was drinking ar least a bottle of wine nightly, usually more and a bottle of vodka daily on the weekend. I drank like that for over 20 years. I could not have gotten through the first few days and weeks without your guidance, thank you. I intend to keep it going. It gets better ever week.

loved this vid Kevin! Congrats on 5 yrs sober…you have helped me beyond what I thought was possible. I watch you every single morning with my porridge and tea and try to emulate all you teach. I have been able to quit smoking cigs, quit drinking alcohol, and I eat plant based 100%!!! I’ve always been an active person so that hasn’t changed. I am 63yo and finally feel like I’m really living…Thank you from the bottom of my heart from here in NH USA!!!…x
