It’s Your Drinking – It’s Your Body – It’s 100% Your Responsibility

by | Stop Drinking Alcohol | 7 comments

Who’s responsible for you drinking?

You have to take responsibility for yourself and your own drinking.

Today, I want to talk about responsibility, your responsibility for every single drop of alcohol that you put into your body.

It’s one of the things that you have to really think about and accept in your life if you want to quit drinking.

At the end of the day, most people who fail to quit drinking also fail to take responsibility for their drinking.

You might not think you’re doing that bt if you actually think into it, you’ll realise that’s exactly what you’re doing.

Every time you say ‘I can’t do it today because of one thing or another’, you’re making excuses.

Who is responsible for every drop of alcohol that you put into your body? You are.

Who is responsible for your drinking problem? You are.

Who is responsible for getting you into the position you are now, that you have to quit drinking alcohol? You are.

Who is responsible for your addiction? You are.

Who is responsible for the whole thing of your life? You are.

Responsibility breaks down into two words of your ability to respond.

That’s your ability to make a choice.

To choose whether to do one thing or another.

To drink or not to drink.

And that’s been in our hands all along.

Your ability to respond.

Anything else is just bullshit.

Anything else is just excuses.

One of the biggest things that people say is ‘I can’t quit drinking.’

There is no I can’t.

There’s nothing like that in terms of stopping doing something,
there is only I won’t.

I refuse to do it.

I’d rather do something else, have the instant gratification that I’m getting nw.

Because when I drink the alcohol, I don’t have to think.

I can just go about my jolly business and banish all these thought from my mind.

When it comes to it, it’s just you saying you won’t do it.

And you’ve got to get that out of your system.

You’ve got to accept it is your choice, making the choice to drink every drop, not blaming it on the addiction or your life.

It all boils down to one thing, your ability to accept pure, 100% responsibility for every single drop that goes into your mouth.

At the same time you have to accept 100% responsibility for all the other problems in your life, all the consequences of your drinking that has led you to every problem you’re facing in your life.

Every drop of alcohol you put into your mind from now on, you have to accept the responsibility for every problem that is going to happen all because you want to take the instant gratification route.

Because you don’t want to face the discomfort.

Because you’d rather make excuses rather than take action and putting up with temporary pain.

Temporary pain is exactly what it is, temporary pain.

You have to go through some sort of pain, but it’s more of a discomfort.

It’s a feeling of something missing, but you get over it.

You get over it very quickly, it’s not something that lingers unless you keep those parts in your life.

Unless you keep going to the pub and hanging around these people drinking lots of booze.

I’m not talking about those people who drink the occasional glass of wine, that’s easy, you won’t become that because it’s only a small part of your life.

But if you keep hanging out with people that are drinking a lot, getting drunk, this is the thing that’s going to extend the pain and bring it further into your life and you’ll never get rid of it if you keep doing that.

So you have to take the responsibility for your own actions.

It’s your responsibility, your body, your life. If you want to fuck it up, then it’s your choice.

It’s also your choice not to drink.

Anyone who stops drinking alcohol has got to make that firm decision.

Everybody has to do that.

Regardless of what you think, everyone gets to that point in life when they go ‘now is the time’.

They can say ‘tomorrow is the time or next week is the time’ as long as they fucking want, but you’ll eventually come to a spot in your life when you say ‘this is the time when I make the choice to never drink again’.

Once you make that choice with your full heart and commitment to doing this, then you’ll never go back.

It’s a choice.

Every single part of it is a choice.

Then you have to make a choice to go back drinking again, and you obviously didn’t make the determined decision in the past.

Accept that every drink comes from you, every drop of alcohol you put in your body comes from you.

I’m saying it the other way around, every time you say you’re not putting alcohol into your body, that comes from you as well.

You have to accept responsibility.

There is no I can’t, there is only I won’t.

Think about what it says about you when you consistently say I won’t.

Because whenever you say I can’t, it means I won’t.

There is no other way to look at this.

Take responsibility for every single drop of alcohol you put into your body.

Noticing a very constant theme in your message !!…

YES!!…the discomfort of abstaining. And it may be the biggest reason we all continue to drink . Abstaining is painful in the first few day. Then it turns to discomfort. Some people die if they quit cold turkey, and that scares some of us.

Kevin, you seldom mention tapering. Is it a better idea than just hard ball quitting.

I think any method that gets you over the line is good, tapering or just stopping. Some people have to taper off, some have to quit in the moment and that’s that. I was the latter, I don’t have any reason not support the former.

I don’t know too much about tapering. I’ll look into it and do some vids.

Spot on Kevin. Your videos just keep getting better and better. It is 100% our responsibility.
The consequences of excess drinking is death or serious brain damage.
Some hard drinkers will need supervised detox as you know. Quitting cold turkey is extremely dangerous.
