Alcohol Addiction: My Alcohol Story

I’m going to kick off another series of videos about alcohol addiction with a brief look at my story. I talk about starting drinking at an early age and progressing to the pubs as soon as I could legally get in the door. I go into starting to hide from problems with alcohol and eventually trying to overcome tragedy by drinking myself stupid every night.

How to Stay Focused After You’ve Stopped Drinking Booze | SDA15

This is week 15 of my journey into alcohol mastery! Unfortunately, due to a major brain fart, the site was offline for most of the week… I learned the hard way how to migrate a website from one host to another… I talk about the need to focus in the present moment… it’s the only place where you can make changes… the past is gone and the present hasn’t happened and might never happen. We need to focus our energies on what we can do right here and now in the present. We only need to deal with things in the context of the situation that we’re in… It stops a lot of overwhelm!

My tip of the week is to chill and find yourself some quiet space for time on your own… it doesn’t have to be for long, just enough to get your thoughts together, breath, and relax…

Did You Lose Weight After You Stopped Drinking? How I Did it!

This is a question about weight loss. I’m the lowest weight I’ve been in a long time, probably about 10 or maybe 15 years… Stopping drinking has made a huge impact. I did lose weight before, but it always came piling back on once I had a couple of splash sessions…

How Long Does the Tiredness Last after Quitting Alcohol?

In the beginning, I was full of energy, full of life, full of the joys of being sober. The tiredness kicked in for me after a month of so. I just ran out of steam. I thought I was young again but my body pulled me up short and told me to take a chill-pill. My energy levels are fairly stable now, no real bad ups or downs, the normal run of the mill stuff… But it’s great to be normal, not on the continuous turmoil of the drinking roller-coaster…

Alcohol Recovery – The Power Of Your Own Mind To Help You Quit | SDA13

This is week 13 of my journey into alcohol mastery! I lost another couple of pounds, bringing my total so far to 30 pounds, just under half way to my goal… I took a week off to read this week but I’ll be back to normal next week. Your brain is your greatest asset, but it can also be your greatest enemy. A lot of the beliefs you’re walking around with today, were engrained into the fibre of your mind long before you were aware that you even had a mind. You need to break those beliefs that are stopping you from achieving things. If you can do this, all your dreams can be made reality, there’ll be no stopping you!

Have You Ever Been In A Hospital Or Institution On Account Of Your Drinking?

This is one of those questions where the answer is no, not to an institution anyway, but it’s held in place with a piece of sticky tape with the words “There but for the grace of God go I!” This is the final question in the series. I enjoyed writing the articles and doing the videos… they also exposed a lot about my drinking, made me think of the physical and mental consequences of all those years in the wasteland… I’m so, so glad to be out the other side…Onwards and Upwards….

Do You Drink To Build Up Your Self-Confidence?

It’s so easy to start drinking to escape low self-esteem or to build up your confidence. There have been a lot of times in my life when I’ve needed a drink to cope with a situation where I had to meet other people; at least I thought I did.
As I’ve got older, the times when I need self-confidence the most are the times when it would be totally inappropriate to drink…
Like going in to see my son’s teachers … scary…
Like going to meet a new client…
A lot of the day to day stuff any adult is supposed to do. That’s when I had to develop my backbone and start facing life…
